Develops, tests, documents, and implements methods for deriving other biologically important characteristics of coral reef ecosystem habitats and environments from satellite imagery and producing mapping information products. Presents and discusses findings at national and international meetings with coastal fisheries and resource managers and interdisciplinary ocean scientists. Job Description: Perform geospatial and non-geospatial tasks as a GIS Technician working with a GIS Analyst and other GIS technicians in a team setting. GIS projects will include development of GIS layers, loading and editing GIS data, performing basic mapping and metadata authoring. Field work at various locations will also be required using a Trimble mapping grade GPS. The data and photos gathered will be integrated into various products in support of GIS development. Will develop geospatial products and provide consolidated database and custom reports. Complete assigned tasks using GIS software packages and other database software and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum 1-2 yrs experience using ArcGIS products.  The ideal candidate will be a team player, good listener, quick learner, and motivated to learn.

Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office.  Other geospatial software used in this office includes SDSFIE tools, ERDAS Imagine, Trimble GPS software, and Adobe Photoshop.

GIS experience is the most important factor.  Will consider education and potential to learn.  Must provide references.

Must have good communications and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, to interface with managers, engineers, scientists and other personnel.
