Who:
What:
The shorelines of Hawai'i are vital to our sense of place and our tourism based
economy. While conducting outreach activities within the fishing community, it became
apparent shoreline access to fishing locations was a common concern. These concerns
included the lack of information about access locations and the loss of access due to
urban development. Shoreline access information for Oahu is not easily accessible or
comprehensive. The goal of this project is to make this information more
comprehensive and available to the fishing community, local government agencies, and
the ocean using community as a whole. The inventory is currently underway utilizing
GPS and GIS technology to accurately map shoreline access and record site specific
attribute information.
