              Summary of Duties:  Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo (UHH), Office of Research, Spatial Data Analysis and Visualization (SDAV) Research Facility, located in Hilo, Hawaii.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

Appoints and manages the Spatial Data Analysis and Visualization Research Facility. Trains and supervises numerous research personnel (technicians, post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students) and works with faculty and visiting researchers.  Designs, develops, tests, implements, and supports current and emerging geospatial and geovisualization research in Geographic Information Science (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS), Online and Mobile Geospatial Services, Global Positioning System (GPS), and spatial-databases.  Assists faculty and researchers with project management for the completion of geospatial and geovisualization related projects.   Maintains and upgrades computers, software, servers, and field equipment associated with SDAV Research Facilities as needed.  Coordinates, monitors, purchases, and tracks software, equipment, data, and supplies.  Interacts with UH, RCUH, Federal contacts, consultants, and vendors. Monitors expenditures for compliance with UH and Federal guidelines. Assists Principal Investigator (PI) in the administration of project's scientific, technical, or administrative efforts. Participates in meetings and workshops with faculty and staff. Manages processes for annual planning and budgeting and submission of periodic and annual financial and technical reports.  Fiscal responsibilities include: maintaining revolving fund account records, budgeting for staff support, purchasing of research equipment and supplies, and invoicing University and Non-University clients for services.
