University of Hawaiʻi Maui College.  Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College (UHMC), for the Rural Hawaiʻi 1 (RH1) Project, located in Kahului, Maui, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

Minimum Monthly Salary:  $3,837/Mon. 

Duties:  Coordinates, manages, and directs all activities of the project.  Works to achieve project outcomes, writes all necessary project reports.  Acts as a liaison with the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) industry developing job and employment opportunities for the project’s participants.  Develops three (3) credit courses for the GIS Certificate Program for delivery at UH Maui College and at off-campus sites at Hawaiʻi Community College and Kauaʻi Community College.  Develops assessment tools and strategies for continuous course improvement.  Obtains approval for new courses through the UH Maui College curriculum approval process and articulates courses with other UH college campuses.  Collaborates with the Instructional Design team on innovative program delivery.  Teaches the UH Maui College GIS Certificate Program courses.  Assists in the evaluation of curriculum and in the development of assessment tools and strategies for course and student development.  Supervises the three (3) GIS Technical Support personnel. 

primary Qualifications:  Education:  Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Surveying, Geography, Geomatics or a related field (a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university and three (3) years of relevant experience may be substituted for a Master’s Degree). Experience:  At least two (2) years of experience teaching GIS courses in a college setting.  At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.  Abil/Know/Skills:  Demonstrated expertise in GIS and curriculum development. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members, individuals, and the public.  Ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes, and resolve a full range of issues that may occur in managing a grant-funded project involving research, curriculum and course development.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Must possess strong computer software skills with professional software programs commonly used in GIS.  Must possess a valid driver’s license and personal insured vehicle. Post Offer/Employment Condition:  Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check.

SECONDARY Qualifications:  PhD from an accredited or university in Surveying, Geography, Geomatics or a related field.   Knowledge or experience in administering projects funded by a l grant or working on a l grant project in a position of responsibility.  Knowledge of UH administrative procedures.
